Chicago Wolves Winter Reading Program
It’s getting colder out! Time to curl up with a good book for our Winter Reading Program, sponsored by the Chicago Wolves Hockey Team.
To sign-up just come to the Library and we’ll fill out a Reading Log for you, which we’ll keep on file.
Then read 2 books during January, come to the Library to log your books and you’ll be entered into a raffle to win prizes.
Read 2 more books during February, come to the Library to log those books and you’ll be entered into the prize raffle again!
Our prizes include Chicago Wolves Hockey tickets and other Chicago Wolves paraphernalia.
So get out your cocoa, curl up underneath a blanket and read the winter blues away!
Happy New Year!
We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and an awesome New Year’s Eve!
We also hope that you made a New Year’s Resolution to visit the library more and check out more books and stuff this year!
Salvation Army Angel Tree for the Holiday Season
If you are feeling in the giving m
ood this holiday season, make sure you stop by the Youth Services Department and pick up a gift tag off our Christmas tree.
The Salvation Army is doing their annual Angel Tree program. So just use the gift tag to select a gift for a needy child, and then return the unwrapped gift to the front Circulation Desk by Monday, December 12th.
Merry Christmas!
Story Time for Wednesday November 2nd & Thursday November 3rd
In a blink of an eye we are in the month of November!
We read the following stories:
Bark George by Jules Feiffer
Ivan the Terrier by Peter Catalanotto
Five Silly Turkeys by Salina Yoon
The Doghouse by Jan Thomas
We did our first Thanksgiving puppet show. From across the sea the Mayflower performed on our stage singing, “Sailing, sailing over the ocean blue with a ship full of pilgrims looking for somethings new. He couldn’t stay long because he has a long journey ahead of him. Our pilgrim girl met her first Indian. They had a lot to talk about.
We danced to our annual turkey dance, The Turkey Waddle. We give every child a “turkey on a stick” & we all become TURKEYS. We waddle like a turkey and we hide from the farmer.
Our craft was purchased from Oriental Trading Co. It was a scarecrow with a 3D pumpkin with stickers. It was very popular with the kids and parents!
